Push/Ram Bar
Any rank of sheriff's deputy may affix a ram/push bar to their patrol vehicle. If a deputy elects to not utilize a ram/push bar, they may not directly perform a PIT maneuver. Vehicle boxing is permitted regardless of the presence of a ram/push bar. A patrol supervisor may authorize a PIT timer/maneuver without a ram/push bar under specific circumstances. These circumstances include:
A lack of ram/push bar equipped vehicles on a pursuit.
A pursuit suspect posing an immediate and continuous threat to the public that cannot be mitigated by terminating the pursuit.
A PIT timer has otherwise been approved and has since expired, but hasn't been executed due to the lack of a ram/push bar.
Slick-Top Policy
Deputies at or below the rank of Corporal are required to have an overhead light bar attached to their vehicle. Visor lighting is not permitted if the vehicle is equipped with an overhead light bar. Department supervisors (and above) may utilize their choice of overhead light bars or visor lights, but not both.
Vehicle Modifications
Deputies must configure their vehicles in a way that maintains professional appearance. The use of modkits to give a patrol vehicle a nonsensical appearance will not be tolerated. No standard patrol vehicles may have any form of window tint. All performance-enhancing modifications are permitted.
Trusted Civilian Lightbar Script
Any deputy at or above the rank of Corporal may open a department inquiry to request to use the lightbar script on any standard patrol vehicle. The change must be realistic and the individual must be able to articulate why the changes are appropriate for the vehicle.
Approval will be discussed among the department command staff and approval must be authorized by the office of the sheriff (Sheriff, Undersheriff, and Assistant Sheriff). Approved modifications may be unauthorized at any time for any reason and without warning.
Department investigative divisions may utilize the lightbar script without prior approval, but may have their authorization revoked if the privilege is found to be abused.
