All personell must enter the department trough the official ticketing system:
- Submission Path: New Tickets -> LEO/EMS/DOJ -> Department Application -> BCSO
- Approval: Applications are reviewed and approved by Department Supervisors
While prior law enforcement knowledge is not a strict requirement for entry, it is highly advised that Cadets familiarize themselvers with basic protocols to ensure success during the Training.
Preparation
As a Cadet, you have 30 days to fulfill the following expectations:
- SOP Knowledge: Review the Standard Operating Procedures, the Joint Department SOP, aswell as the Academy SOP.
- Logistics: Ensure your uniform and vehicles are prepared PRIOR to attending a training session, in accordance with the Uniform and Vehicle Structures.
- Requesting Training: You can request a training in the #training-ridealong-request channel or monitor #training-announcements for hosted trainings.
Training Process
Training is designed to provide you with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in the field. FTOs will guide you trough:
1. Classroom Instruction: Part of the Training covering departmental theory, legal standards, and code of conduct.
2. Practical Scenarios: Hands-on, guided exercises where you will practice vehicle pursuits, foot chases, first-aid, and responding to barricaded suspects in a supportive environment.
If you feel you havent quite mastered the material after your first session, dont worry! You are encouraged to reach out to one of our FTOs to schedule another 1-on-1 session.
Upon successful completion of Cadet Training, you will be formally promoted. At this stage, you will be issued your official field gear to being your career:

Important Note: Once you move into the probationary phase, a new 45-day window begins for your promotion checklist. Please ensure you complete your Cadet Training withing your initial 30 days to remain active in the program.
