The BCSO Chain of Command is in place to ensure that deputies have readily-available access to information and guidance they may need during the course of their duties. By being required to report to a supervisor, they are more likely to get a prompt response and are kept from distracting higher-up members of the department with menial inquiries or requests.
BCSO Heads Team
01 - 05 (Office of the Sheriff)
06 - 09 (Department Heads) nice
Has final say in all policy interpretation.
Develops main department policy (this SOP).
Oversees department overwatch personnel.
Typically leads the monthly promotion panel.
Responsible for punishment appeals.
Command Staff
Consists of Captains (High Command) and Lieutenants (Low Command)
Typically placed in overwatch lead & advisor positions.
Works with the Heads team to implement their strategies.
Responsible for incoming and outgoing transfer requests.
Supervisory Team
Consists of Sergeants and Master Sergeants
Responds to supervisor requests.
Proactively assisting patrol units.
Assists in the monthly promotion panel.
Responsible for department reports, applications, inquiries, and investigations.
Supervisors in Training
Corporals
Trains under Master Sergeants.
Often has first chance to handle department applications, inquiries, and reports.
Learns how to supervise patrol deputies.
Patrol Deputies
Lance Corporals, Senior Deputies, and Deputies
Enforces the law with professionalism and respect.
Front-line responders within the department.
Most members of the department fall into this category.
Trainees
Probationary Deputies and Cadets
Train under our field training academy.
Learning the ropes of being a law enforcement officer.
