Academy Advisor 

• Assists with the full operation of the Field Training Academy.

• Assists with developing training policies and ensures all procedures remain current.

• Manages onboarding and training standards for new deputies.

• Votes on Probationary Advancement Programme Results.

• Exempt from Training Requirements

Field Training Officer - Administrator

• Servers as the highest Rank in the Academy (aside from Academy Advisor & Overwatch).

• Oversees and evaluates the performances of FTAs, FTOs and FTO-Es

• Develops training policies and ensures all procedures remain current.

• Ensure training programs maintain departmental standards.

• Votes on Probationary Advancement Programme Results.

Field Training Officer - Evaluator

• Achieved by Invitation from Field Training Administrators or above.

• Oversees and evaluates the performance of FTAs and FTOs.

• Ensures training programs maintain departmental standards.

• Serves as a Supervisor for Academy Personnel.

• Votes on Probationary Advancement Programme Results.

• Monthly Requirement: Evaluate x1 FTA each month, or fulfill a requirement of a lower rank.

Field Training Officer

• Achieved after Evaluation by a Field Training Officer - Evaluator.

• Leads training sessions for Cadets and Deputies.

• Provides feedback, documentation, and improvement suggestions.

• Provides Ridealongs for Probationary Deputies within the PAP Programme.

• Monthly Requirement: Host x2 Cadet Trainings OR x1 Division Training & x2 Probationary Ridealongs.

Field Training Assistant

• Achieved by application at the rank of Deputy+ or automatically assigned at Corporal+.

• Works directly with probationary deputies during ride-alongs.

• Guides, supports, and motivates new members.

• Conducts ride-alongs.

• Acts as the primary bridge between classroom learning and field application.

• Monthly Requirement: Assist in x1 Cadet Training & complete x2 Probationary Ridealongs.

ROA / LOA 

Personnel who file for an ROA or LOA are fully exempt from all Academy requirements. This exemption also applies to members on ROA+ status.

Special Assignments 

Members holding Special Assignments within BCSO may request a temporary or permanent exemption from Academy requirements. To apply, you must submit a ticket with a detailed justification explaining why the exemption is necessary. The reviewing FTO-A member will evaluate your request and reserves the right to deny it if the reasoning is insufficient.

As a Supervisor, your influence extends far beyond administrative oversight. You are the primary Role Model of our department's standards, culture and professional growth. Your active participation in daily Academy Operations, whether serving as a Field Training Assistent or even a Field Training Evaluator is an optional duty.

• Cohesion:  Being present in the "trenches" of training fosters trust and respect. When subordinates see thier leadership invested in the same foundational work they performed, it strengthens the chain of command and boosts overall morale.

• Setting a Standard: You are the living standard of our department. Your presence in the Academy demonstrates that no task is beneath a leader and that the development of our future force is our highest collective priority.
